WHY BUILD BUILT GREEN
BUILT GREEN® builders and renovators are trained in energy efficient building practices, water saving techniques, construction waste management, and other environmental practices. It is mandatory for all active BUILT GREEN® builder and renovator members to take the training programs offered by Built Green Canada. The training is updated every two years, and all participating BUILT GREEN® builders and renovators must take it to maintain their membership in good standing. We try to build using energy efficient technology starting with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF’s) for the foundation and taking the extra steps with insulating.

For this custom home we also used Radon Guard Insulation underneath the concrete slab of the basement floor. This product allows gas movement between the ground and the air barrier system to then be vented to a connected mitigation system.
We insulate tightly around the pot lights which stops heat and light from leaking. A small detail adding to less energy consumption over the years.
As well as insulating the inside we choose Roxul comfortboard insulated sheathing in between the building wrap and the siding. This extra step stops thermal bridging. http://www.roxul.com/products/residential/products/roxul+comfortboard+80
